The main problem with the durability of metal structures is corrosion. Although steel has been protected from natural oxidation and further decomposition, the paintwork still needs to be renewed over the years. This isn't always easy, and sometimes even impossible, due to the design features of the components or mechanisms. Therefore, in some cases, it's advisable to use stainless steel rolled metal productsStainless steel is completely impervious to oxidation reactions. This eliminates the need for painting, resulting in significant savings in the long run.

The key to quality, or why stainless steel doesn't rust?

Although the question in the subtitle seems tautological, it's worth asking yourself when choosing a rolled product for your specific needs. Because I understand the principles and processes that ensure corrosion protection for stainless steels, I can correctly and accurately select the material, avoiding overpaying for unnecessary strength and, therefore, obtaining the optimal option for my specific needs.

Stainless steel's rust protection lies in its composition. Stainless steel is a special alloy containing chromium and nickel. These inclusions create a thin oxide film on the surface of the product, which prevents the metal from deteriorating under aggressive external influences. This "coating" cannot be damaged mechanically, as any impact on the metal—cutting, cracking, bending, etc.—results in a new oxide film immediately forming on the newly formed surfaces.

As mentioned above, it's important to select the right stainless steel for your application. Therefore, it's logical to conclude that this alloy has variations. These variations depend on the mass fraction of chromium and nickel added during casting or drawing. There are so-called steels with additional reinforcing components. Molybdenum is the primary such component. This element provides reliable protection against the aggressive effects of acids, salts, and other chemicals. This type of stainless steel is also called "marine grade."

Where can I buy high-quality stainless steel?

INOXTRADE company supplies a wide variety of rolled metal products, including stainless steel pipesConsultants can provide detailed information on the alloy composition of a particular product and help you select the right materials for your needs. This, in turn, will ensure cost savings and high quality of the final products.
