The conveyor belt is the core component of any conveyor, regardless of its purpose. This element moves loads and can act as a traction drive. It is subject to the most stringent requirements for service life, reliability, and durability.

Scope of application

High quality rubberized fabric conveyor belt It has the widest range of applications. Its primary and only purpose is to transport a variety of cargo horizontally or at an angle. It can handle bulk, loose, and piece goods, packaged goods, and large-sized components.

Conveyor belts are used in warehouses, manufacturing plants, mines, and other places where the business process involves the movement of goods and other cargo.

All products are divided into several large groups according to their features of use and purpose:

  • General-purpose belts. Widely used, they perform well under moderate loads and at comfortable temperatures.
  • Heat-resistant. Withstands temperatures up to 200°C, ideal for handling hot loads.
  • Resistant to low temperatures. Can be used in the extreme conditions of the Far North.
  • Oil and petrol resistant. Not affected by exposure to fuels and lubricants.
  • Mine. Used in mines, they are well protected from fires.
  • Food grade. Can be used in direct contact with food. Used in restaurants, cafes, and canteens.

Design Features

A conveyor belt is a multi-layer product. Several layers of a fabric base are coated with rubber. The number of layers depends on durability requirements. Instead of fabric as a base, long-distance belts used in the mining industry use steel cables, which can withstand enormous loads.

Sometimes, instead of rubber, alternative materials such as PVC or silicone are used. The most popular conveyor belts used in food production are made from safe polyvinyl chloride.

Structurally, the tape consists of several layers:

  • Rubber lining. Working surface for placing the transported load.
  • Fabric base. The frame of the entire product. Consists of several layers (up to 12).
  • Rubber spacers placed between the carcass layers.
  • The bottom lining is made of rubber and is not in use.

The belt design includes a rubber flange. This prevents delamination and premature failure.

When selecting a belt for a specific conveyor, several important parameters must be considered, the most important of which are the type of load being handled, operating conditions, and workload. These parameters determine the product's width, thickness, number of base layers, and other characteristics.
