Application of P18 steel

The high quality of P18, when used as a cutting tool, is achieved through alloying with vanadium, molybdenum, tungsten, cobalt, and aluminum. Heat treatment (hardening) to temperatures in the range of 1200-1300 degrees Celsius and tempering are used to achieve precipitation hardening.
