Antifriction cast iron This is a casting iron used in critical applications where there is high friction under lubricated loads. It has a durable ferrite-pearlite base. Spheroidal graphite protects the alloy from abrasive loads. Alloying metals used in this type of cast iron include Cr, Cu, Ni, Ti, Sb, Pb, Al, Mn, and Mg.

If you add a small amount of cementite and phosphide eutectic, the wear resistance will increase significantly, due to which antifriction cast iron has become widespread. Changes in the alloy's properties occur due to the high microhardness of the additives introduced. The material's coefficient of friction is 0.001-0.1.

Application of antifriction cast iron

Antifriction cast iron application found in places where steel or other types of cast iron are not capable of providing high strength and wear resistance to a structure or part. For example, antifriction cast iron is used For crane blocks operating in the aggressive environment of metallurgical plants. This cast iron is resistant to this environment because it contains the necessary amount of graphite, which is a good lubricant. If the block is made of steel, the grooves of the block should be welded with cast iron. This doubles the service life of the wire ropes. Antifriction cast iron application It is used for the production of parts subject to high friction loads, such as: bearings for shafts, articulated joints, bushings, worm gears.

Antifriction cast iron grades

The main evaluation criterion grades of antifriction cast iron is the microstructure and hardness of such an alloy; for some grades, the alloying elements also play a role. The following exist antifriction cast iron grades: AChS-1, AChS-2, AChS-3, AChS-4, AChS-5, AChS-6, AChV-1, AChV-2, AChK-1, AChK-2. Here, the letters ACh indicate that the material is antifriction; C, B, K indicate gray, high-strength, or malleable. The number indicates a different chemical composition.
